Introduction to MMA and Muay Thai Fight Conditioning

by Brandon Richey, B.S.,CSCS for SEALGrinderPT

Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs", and sometimes the "Science of Eight Limbs", because it uses eight "points of contact" (punches, kicks, elbow and knee strikes) instead of only two points (fists) in boxing and four points (hands and feet) used in other combat sports like kickboxing. A practitioner of Muay Thai is known as a nak muay, which is Thai for “boxer”. Western practitioners are sometimes called Nak Muay Farang, which means "foreign boxer."
